Did you know?

Leonardo Da Vinci lived between 1452 and 1519 and died at the incredible age (for the time) of 67.

He is most famous for painting the Mona Lisa of course, but his painting of the Last Supper is the most re-produced religious painting in history and his iconic Vitruvian Man drawing is still being used today and most recently was commissioned to be the design of a new Euro coin.

In 2017 one of his paintings brought the highest ever price seen at auction when a collector paid $450 million at Christies in New York for ‘Salvator Mundi’.

Less well known is that he is also credited with creating the first concepts for the flying machine, double hulled ships, the calculator and solar power. In fact his list of inventions, which came to life in later years runs into the hundred.

In 2004 Dan Brown produced the book ‘The Da Vinci Code’ which became an instant hit as it threw new light onto the age-old mystery of the search for the Holy Grail. In its first 5 years it sold now fewer than 80 million copies.
